The ladies from the GRAMS Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) team hosted their first Women’s Pamper Day for the year on Thursday, 24th September 2026. Held at the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre, it was a lovely setting next to the beach and there was perfect weather to top it off. Limited to 10 ladies only, there was a good turnout of 8 attendees.

The ladies were able to get their hair styled and cut, and have a relaxing massage thanks to the amazing services provided by Uli for the hairstyling, and the WACRH physio students for the massages. The ladies were also treated to a delicious spread of food catered by Tarts & Co, and many raved about how yum the food was. TIS was grateful to have Leanne from GRAMS come and have an educational discussion with the ladies about lung health, and Denise and Maggie from TIS also shared a short educational talk on why smoking and vaping is bad for people’s health.

The ladies were given gift bags on departure and had the chance to win a hamper prize if they completed a feedback survey of the event. The feedback was very insightful and gave the TIS team great ideas and things to be mindful of for how the next pamper day will be held. It was lovely to hear that because of the education during the event, two of the attending ladies began to consider giving up smoking, and two wanted to sign up for the Whichway Quit Journey packs provided by Whichway in collaboration with the Geraldton TIS team.
The TIS team looks forward to incorporating all the feedback from this event into the next Women’s Pamper Day, and hope that more ladies in the community are able to attend next time!
