About The Role
Join the Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS) at Gascoyne Outreach Service (GOS) in Carnarvon as our Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Officer. You will assist team members to effectively connect with appropriate health and wellbeing services to address issues affecting client health and their health.
The occupant of this position will be expected to comply with and demonstrate a positive commitment to the highest level of achievement in Equal Employment Opportunity, Work Health & Safety, Code of Conduct, Quality Improvement, Performance Management, Customer Focus and Confidentiality throughout the course of their duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver culturally appropriate programs for Aboriginal youth
- Promote youth engagement in GRAMS activities
- Liaise with community leaders and service providers to address youth health and wellbeing
- Advocate for youth needs and identify service gaps
- Represent GRAMS at local events
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Diploma/Cert IV in Youth Work, Health Promotion, Community Health, or related field
- Strong communication and community engagement skills
- Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and health issues
- Current driver's licence, National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
Desirable:
- Aboriginal Health qualifications and/or experience working with Aboriginal communities
Practical Requirements
- You need to obtain a Police Clearance
- A current Working with Children Clearance or able to obtain one
- A current unrestricted vehicle driver's licence
- You can be tested for having used drugs at any time
