The Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service is seeking to fill the above position at its clinic in Geraldton.

The occupant of this position will be expected to comply with and demonstrate a positive commitment to the highest level of achievement in Equal Employment Opportunity. Work Health & Safety, Code of Conduct, Quality Improvement, Performance Management, Customer Focus and Confidentiality throughout the course of their duties.

Applicants must have the relevant tertiary qualifications in social work , psychology, sociology or related field and registration in Western Australia 

  • Extensive and recent experience as a Community Mental Health Professional.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Well-developed communication, negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Psychiatric disorders, mental health management, promotion and principles of community based health care and illness prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an independent practitioner.
  • Sound working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014.
  • Demonstrated, well developed and effective communication interpersonal and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience in Mental Health.
  • Experience in health service delivery.
  • Be able to participate in multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary review of client care.
  • Developed computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Broad knowledge of local health service providers both government and non-government.
  • The ability to travel throughout the Midwest, Gascoyne and Murchison
  • Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours
