The Youth Outreach Team (Deadly Cru) and Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) have exciting news. We have partnered with the Deadly Sista Girlz to administer health checks for girls at Champion Bay Senior High School. The Deadly Cru and TIS team understand the importance of routine health checks for young girls. By going directly into the schools, we can ensure girls in the community have access to health care and receive care in an environment they are comfortable in. For health checks in schools, we bring all the equipment we need as well as a doctor and Aboriginal health worker. Special thanks to Denise from the TIS team who came on the recent health check visit in Champion Bay Senior High School on 14th, 15th, and 16th of March!
We’re excited to work with Deadly Sista Girlz, a culturally appropriate healthy lifestyle program delivered by strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role models. The Dead Sista Girlz aim to improve engagement and education amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls to build their self-esteem and confidence, pride in their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identities, engage in practical cultural contributions, and much more.
The program has mentored 5,046 girls since 2007, with 1,046 girls currently mentored across 17 sites nationally.
The Deadly Cru is proud to partner with Deadly Sista Girlz to engage with youth and promote healthy habits and behaviours.
