GRAMS actively supports research that produces data and knowledge likely to result in measureable health gains for Aboriginal people in the Mid West. We support research themes and outcomes that centre on the application of preventative, diagnostic, interventions and treatment of all of the major causes of deaths, illness and disability in the Midwest. GRAMS seek to up-skill Aboriginal people or involve them in research teams as well as supporting the expertise of Aboriginal people and local Aboriginal researchers as individuals and as teams.
A research review subcommittee has been initiated by the GRAMS board to support and promote all Aboriginal health research outcomes. These outcomes must be consistent with the aims and ethics of GRAMS to conduct culturally secure research related to Aboriginal health in the Midwest / Murchison. The research subcommittee has representation from services across the region and is not part of any one organisation or group. It consists of local Aboriginal community members and members with research expertise.
