Local kids aged from 3 to 16 recently attended a smoke-free Youth Leadership camp in Denham hosted by Carnarvon Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) and Wula Gura Nyinda Eco Cultural Adventures.

The camp ran from Sunday 27th of November to Thursday 1st of December. Over the five days the kids participated in a range of activities including four-wheel driving, kayaking, swimming, sailing, bush walking and mini golf.

It was a deadly camp with the kids coming away with positive attitudes for each other, their culture and the wildlife. They learned new skill sets and the harmful effects of what smoking cigarettes can do that will stick with them for life.

The core values of the camp were leadership, team building, communication, cultural awareness, environmental awareness, safety, active participation and respect.
