The Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service is looking for Remote Community Connectors.
This role will require the ability to show initiative in working collaboratively with and acting on behalf of local and remote community members by providing relevant information and referring people with disability and their families to the National Disability Insurance Scheme Coordinator
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
General skills, experience and knowledge
ESSENTIAL:
- Be resident of the community. Indigenous resident of the Geraldton and Carnarvon towns and other remote Aboriginal communities’ services from these base locations; including (but not limited to): Coral Bay, Mungullan, Woodgarnia, Burringurrah, Meekatharra, Mt Magnet, Cue, Exmouth, Morowa, Northampton, Perenjori, Sandstone, Three Springs, Yalgoo and Mingenew
- Be accepted in their role as an RCC by the community.
- Attend and engage in NDIA schedule of training and support.
- Be approachable, positive and respectful.
- Reside locally and have extensive local knowledge about the community.
- Ability to cultivate professional working relationships with participants and their families.
- Demonstrated skills to communicate culturally and appropriately with community members.
- Build strong relationship with local organizations, the NDIA and mainstream services.
- Respect confidentiality and build trust
- Comply with legislation in security clearances – National Police Check, Working with Children Check and Working with Vulnerable People Check.
- Ability to manage potential conflict of interest and if required seek assistance to do so.
DESIRABLE
- Previous experience working in the area of Aboriginal Health Service provision or experience with health or social service delivery.
PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- You need to obtain a Police Clearance.
- A current Working with Children Clearance or able to obtain one.
- Working with Vulnerable People Check or able to obtain one
- A current unrestricted vehicle driver’s license.
- You can be tested for having used drugs at any time.
