School holidays kicked off in Carnarvon with a fun-filled basketball event hosted by PCYC

The community event saw a great turnout, with kids from different age groups coming together to participate in the sport.

The event had three teams playing a fast-paced and physical game. The players were given a brief on the rules and gameplay by Keno Phillips from PCYC and Mr Lockyer from the Shire of Carnarvon, ensuring a fair and fun game for all. To keep the players energised, there was a free BBQ lunch and an abundance of fruit. It was a great opportunity for the kids to enjoy some healthy food options while playing and socialising with their peers.

On the day of the event, Thomas Cameron (Aboriginal Liaison Officer), and Kelly Capewell (Tackling Indigenous Smoking Officer) from the GRAMS Gascoyne Outreach Services provided their support by  helping with the BBQ and ensuring the event had enough support.

The event saw the participation of PCYC, Carnarvon Police, Shire of Carnarvon, Ngala, and as well as our Carnarvon Elder. It was great to have local organisations come together to host this fantastic event for the kids.

The basketball event was a huge success, and it was wonderful to see the community come together to support the youth during their school holidays. We look forward to participating in more of these events throughout the year.
