The GRAMS Reserve is undergoing an upgrade to design and construct new recreational facilities including scooter and skate park, art elements, lighting and basketball half-court. In March 2020, The City of Greater Geraldton successful secured a $530,000 grant funding from Lotterywest to improve and enhance the GRAMS Reserve for the benefit of the local community.
The Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Services (GRAMS) team is taking part in the Community Reference Group to contribute to the Project and provide guidance in the park design. Taking part in the workshop will allow GRAMS to act as a community representative and convey the local community’s vision for the park.
GRAMS CEO Deborah Woods said that the upgrade will help to transform the park into a vibrant and welcoming space whilst bringing extensive benefits to the local community.
“We are looking forward to participating in the project and transforming the GRAMS Reserve to create a hub where the community can come together and engage in a variety of activities,” she said.
“I’d like to thank the City for the development of the initiative and involving us in the process.”
Workshop one was held on 1 July 2020 to summarise the themes captures in the development of the GRAMS Park. The aim of the workshop is to identify the opportunities and constraints of the site and utilise them to develop guiding principles for the development of the public space.
GRAMS will continue to collaborate with the City of Greater Geraldton on the GRAMS Reserve Upgrade Project.
Once concept plans for the upgrade have been completed, the community will be invited to have their say and provide feedback on the exciting development.
