Congratulations to our Youth Team Leader, Nicole for achieving her Diploma of Community Services and Diploma of Youth Work!
Nicole was originally a hairdresser but after going through breast cancer, she was no longer able to use her arms as much and therefore could not continue working as a hairdresser.
She is grateful for all the support she received during her health journey and wanted to do something in return.
“I had a lot of support through my journey but know a lot of people who are unaware of the services and support available to them. So, I went to study to be able to give back to my community,” said Nicole.
In 2020, Nicole decided to undertake the course for Community Services and Youth Work in Certificate IV and had the opportunity to complete her work placement at GRAMS.
“I was lucky enough to have GRAMS take me on for my work placement. I ended up with the Youth Team and loved it,” said Nicole.
Nicole was offered a casual job with GRAMS last year while she was completing her Diplomas at TAFE. She completed her studies at the end of last year and in December 2021, Nicole took on the role as GRAMS Youth Team Leader.
“I absolutely love supporting the young people of our community as they will become our new leaders in the years to come,” said Nicole.
Nicole’s story is an inspiration to us and is proof that you can do anything you set your mind to. GRAMS is excited to have Nicole as our Youth Team Leader and look forward to creating a positive impact on young people in our community.
