WOMB Project

The Women’s action for Mums and Bubs (WOMB) project is an initiative conducted by James Cook University Australia which aims to identify opportunities to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander maternal and child health.

Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS) is one of eight service partners to participate in the WOMB project and is the only service partner from Western Australia.

The WOMB project mission is to create a safe space for women to come together and empower mothers to improve maternal and child health outcomes. The Project will engage and support mothers and their babies to build stronger, safer and healthier relationships.

The fortnightly workshops will provide a therapeutic space where women have an opportunity to share advice, personal experiences, build a supportive network and develop pride and confidence in themselves as women and as mothers. This project will be measured by way of empowerment of group members, leading to healthy outcomes and healthy lifestyle choices for our Mums and Bubs.
