Deadly Cru helping young men getting back on track

The Back on Track program is a youth engagement program provided in partnership with Headspace and government initiative, Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS).

The program aims to provide youth social support for young men transitioning to adulthood and offer education on drug, alcohol and smoking.

Deadly Cru Youth Engagement Officer, Danielle Sutton, said the program will help equip male youth with real-life skills to navigate through complex life challenges and build confidence.

“We’re focused on helping youth build resilience and self-worth while maintaining their cultural identity,” Danielle said.

“It’s about helping young men find their passions, develop a sense of belonging and providing opportunities to learn new skills.”

The program addresses at-risk behaviour as well as supporting re-engagement with education, training and employment in a culturally safe environment.

Travelling to various regional locations, the group of young men will be taking part in outdoor activities and yarning circles to discuss and share knowledge on important topics.

Back on Track will be delivered fortnightly starting Friday 17 July 2020 from 9am to 2pm.
