NAIDOC Lunch to Honour Aboriginal Elders
Following the resounding success of last year’s NAIDOC Week Elders Lunch, Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS) is again hosting an Elders Lunch to indulge, pamper and recognise the region’s Aboriginal elders during this year’s NAIDOC celebrations.
The Elders Lunch will be held this year at the Geraldton Yacht Clu ( they have a lift) 10am to 2pm will again pay tribute to the important role Aboriginal elders play as mentors, guardians and custodians of Aboriginal culture.
As well as a lovely lunch provided by St John of God Geraldton Hospital (SJGGH), the luncheon will include bingo, giveaways, prizes and other entertainment.
GRAMS chief executive Deborah Woods said last year’s luncheon had proven a highly popular event.
“It was such a gorgeous event – full of warmth, and laughs and appreciation for our elders,” Ms Woods said.
“The elders received mini manicures, indulged in sensational tucker and some guests even hit the dance floor.
“It was a wonderful way to pay tribute to the important role they play in our community.”
This year’s lunch promises a similarly warm and celebratory atmosphere with more than 80 guests expected.
